    Meet Claire (they/them)

    Psychotherapist LGPC – Maryland

Insurance: Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, and Johns Hopkins EHP

    Virtual and in-person in Catonsville

Hello! I’m Claire (they/them), and from a young age, I’ve been captivated by the vibrant tapestry of human emotions and the intricate dance of social interaction. My lifelong curiosity has been a compass, guiding me through explorations in philosophy, art, and the profound depths of human connection. This innate drive truly solidified during my transformative years as a teacher in South Korea, where I had the privilege of working with hundreds of adolescents. Witnessing the immense weight of stress they carried ignited a powerful desire within me: to sit with them, offer unwavering individual support, and simply be a steady, present force during their most challenging times. This profound experience wasn’t just a detour; it was the direct path that led me to become a therapist – a role where I can truly hear the echoes of people’s stories and become a supportive, empathetic presence on their unique journeys. As a therapist, three words resonate at the core of my practice: curious, creative, and connected.

    My Approach

My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in narrative therapy, understanding how the stories we encounter and internalize shape our lives. I tend to be quite non-directive, fostering a space where your experiences guide our work together. Clients and colleagues have also described my approach as existential-phenomenological, focusing on your lived experience and the meaning you make of it. While narrative forms the core, I thoughtfully integrate various techniques to best suit each individual. You’ll find me incorporating mindfulness and somatic work for grounding, light behavioral tracking from CBT, and values-based exploration and “unhooking” from ACT. My way of being is truly person-centered, emphasizing empathy and acceptance.

    Areas of Focus & Specialization

Through extensive study and practice, I’ve cultivated particular strengths in working with clients for whom spirituality holds significant importance. My experience with negotiating my personal identity alongside the LGBTQ+ community uniquely equips me to provide a deeply understanding, affirming, and genuinely safe space for other queer individuals to explore and thrive. Furthermore, my intensive internship provided invaluable experience in working with trauma, where my comprehensive and integrated approach has proven to be particularly powerful in supporting healing and resilience.

Beyond these core areas, I genuinely enjoy and have extensive experience working with:

    • Anxiety

    • Trauma

    • ADHD

    • OCD

    • Perfectionism

    • Depression

    • LGBTQAI+

    • Life Transitions

    • Identity Exploration

    • Men’s Issues

    • Women’s Issues

    • College and Early Career challenges

    • Relationship Issues

    • Life Coaching

    • Autism

    • Highly Sensitive People

    • Transgender issues

    Ages and type of work:

I primarily enjoy working with adults (18+), with no age preference within that range. While individual therapy is a focus, I am also open to working with couples or families.

When I am not in the therapy office:

In my spare time, I love singing (especially with others), being in nature, reading, learning languages, and spending time with loved ones and my local community.

I’m currently working on learning how to play guitar and exercising more, alongside building up my life systems to give me the space to appreciate the little things.
