Kayla Thomas – Accepting New Clients

    Kayla Thomas, She/Her

Intern Counselor | Adolescents & Adults (Ages 12+)

My Journey to the Therapy Room

Before becoming a therapist, I spent seven years as a teacher. During that time, I witnessed first hand the profound need for accessible mental health support across all ages. My transition into counseling was fueled by my own personal therapy journey; experiencing those life-changing results inspired me to help others foster comprehensive well-being. As a therapist, I am a learner, determined, and deeply caring. I am dedicated to walking alongside you through every milestone and transition, believing fully in the lifelong benefits that a supportive therapeutic community can bring.

    A Personalized, Inviting Approach

I believe that therapy should never be “one size fits all.” I utilize an eclectic and integrated approach to meet your specific needs and goals. When you meet with me, you can expect an inviting, nonjudgmental space where our therapeutic alliance is the priority. I draw from several evidence-based modalities, including:

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to shift unhelpful thought patterns.

    • Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore the different “parts” of your inner world.

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you live a values-driven life.

    • Person-Centered Therapy to ensure you remain the expert of your own experience.

    Areas of Focus

I work with individuals, couples, and families ages 12 and up. I am passionate about supporting clients through the “heavy” seasons of life as well as the quiet moments of self-discovery. My specializations include:

    • Anxiety & Depression

    • Trauma, PTSD, & OCD

    • ADHD & Neurodivergence

    • Grief, Loss, & Life Transitions

    • Spirituality & Religious Trauma

    • Identity Exploration & Relationship Issues

    Beyond the Session

When I’m not in the office, I’m likely at home with my husband, Domonic, spoiling our “fur baby,” a cat named Rossi. I am an avid reader of all genres and a fan of experimenting in the kitchen with new dairy-free, high-protein recipes. Whether I’m trying out a new treat or hanging out with friends, I value the same balance and connection that I strive to help my clients find in their own lives.
